Learn how to hit long and straight drives every time
To increase the distance and accuracy of your drives, one of the most important factors is to have a perfect setup. Swing while rotating your body and keep the muscles in your hands and arms relaxed through out the swing.
Take your normal setup and make sure that your shoulders are parallel to the target, lean your upper body slightly to the right behind the ball, so it will be easier to turn your body and shift your weight to the right foot during the back swing.
Keep muscles relaxed, a relaxed muscle is faster than a tensed one, start your back swing with a simultaneous rotation of your hips and upper body turning them fully as you complete the back swing, which ensures sufficient upper body rotation, make sure you maintain the triangle shape between your arms until half way through your back swing allowing you to swing in a wide arc so the ball travel's further.
At the moment you hit the ball, your shoulders should be parallel at impact exactly like there were at setup, so the ball approaches the club in a straight line and meets it square on, this way the motion of your arms and hands accelerates the club head through impact, with all the power of the swing focused through the ball in a direct line with the target making it as fast and as straight as possible.
One common mistake for hitting the long drive is, starting the downswing before completing the back swing, when this happens the shoulders are open at impact and the club head hits across the ball from the outside resulting in a short drive slice to the right.
There is no better feeling than having your ball go long and straight down the middle of the fairway and past your opponents and remember, practice makes perfect.
