Learn how to improve your chipping
chipping is one of those shots that can save you a lot of strokes during your game, ideally you use chipping when the ball is up to 5 meters away from the green, when chipping you may want to change between clubs depending if you want the ball to roll longer or stop quicker, but remember the technique always remains the same.
The Setup
Place the club flat on its sole, with the club face square to the target, measuring 1.5 ft behind the ball stand with you feet close together, turn your whole body feet, hips and shoulders slightly to the left of the target, this is called an open stance and makes it easier to follow though, even on short swings. The ball should be in the middle of your stance to make sure the ball flies from the loft of your club and not from being scooped.
Lean your upper body forward from your hip keeping your legs slightly bent and put slightly more weight on your left foot, rest the shaft on the inside of your left thigh and then take your normal grip, your now in the correct position to chip the ball on to the green.
Chip the ball, make sure your weight stays on the left foot through out the swing to let the loft of the club face get the ball up into the air.
The swing is made from your body rotating around the spine axis making sure your body leads your arms and hands through out the swing, make sure you arms and wrists remain relaxed throughout the swing for a good feel of distance.
The swing is like a pendulum, making sure the back swing is equally as long to the follow through.
The upper body also ends facing the target when rotating around the spine axis, your now ready to master the art of chipping but remember practice makes perfect and this is something your going to need to practice.
